About the Team Fortress 2 recommender
What is WhichMain?
WhichMain is a Class recommendation tool I built to help players discover Classes that match how they like to play in Team Fortress 2.
Recommendations are based on playstyle traits, roles, and gameplay patterns.
You can explore recommendations by browsing Classes you enjoy, selecting gameplay tags, or comparing shared traits across the roster.
Team Fortress 2 Roles
The Team Fortress 2 roster covers 3 distinct roles:
Example Playstyle Tags
Classes in Team Fortress 2 are described using tags like these: each one represents a distinct playstyle tendency used to find similar classes:
Who Built This
I'm a solo developer and long-time player of competitive games. I built this tool to answer a question I kept running into across multiple games: "which class plays like the one I already enjoy?"
The tag profiles are built from direct play experience across each roster, not patch notes or scraped data. Tagging is done manually and updated as rosters change.
If a recommendation seems off or a tag description looks wrong, the contact page is the fastest way to flag it.
Part of the WhichMain Network
This is one of 29 games in the WhichMain network, all run by one developer and all mapped in the same playstyle trait language - 1,402 characters described by 11,998 hand-assigned traits.
Because the games share that language, you can start from a main you already love in another game and translate it into Team Fortress 2. One account and one Premium work on every site in the network.
