What is WhichMain?

WhichMain is a Fighter recommendation tool I built to help players discover Fighters that match how they like to play in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Recommendations are based on playstyle traits, roles, and gameplay patterns.

You can explore recommendations by browsing Fighters you enjoy, selecting gameplay tags, or comparing shared traits across the roster.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Roles

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster covers 8 distinct roles:

All-Rounder Footsies Grappler Powerhouse Rushdown Setplay Trickster Zoner

Example Playstyle Tags

Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are described using tags like these: each one represents a distinct playstyle tendency used to find similar fighters:

Who Built This

I'm a solo developer and long-time player of competitive games. I built this tool to answer a question I kept running into across multiple games: "which fighter plays like the one I already enjoy?"

The tag profiles are built from direct play experience across each roster, not patch notes or scraped data. Tagging is done manually and updated as rosters change.

If a recommendation seems off or a tag description looks wrong, the contact page is the fastest way to flag it.

Part of the WhichMain Network

This is one of 27 games in the WhichMain network, all run by one developer and all mapped in the same playstyle trait language - 1,315 characters described by 11,450 hand-assigned traits.

Because the games share that language, you can start from a main you already love in another game and translate it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. One account and one Premium work on every site in the network.
