About WhichMain
Every character in 30 games, described with one shared set of playstyle traits. Tell the site how you like to play and it finds the characters that fit.
Since every game uses the same vocabulary, it works between games too. Name your main and the translator finds the closest thing to them in any other game here.
How a match is made
Every character has a set of traits for how they play, not how strong they are: range, tempo, what they do with a lead, what they need from a teammate. That's the whole dataset, 12,934 trait assignments. When two characters ask the same things of you, they match.
Between games the comparison uses trait groups and roles instead of exact tags, because two games rarely use the same word for the same idea. So a cross-game match means "plays a similar way", not "is the same character".
Where the data comes from
I assign the traits by hand, from playing the games, and update them as rosters change. It takes forever, but it's why the matches hold up.
2 of the 30 games also have a live win-rate feed that refreshes daily. Those are the only places you'll see win rates or a tier list. Everywhere else the recommendation is pure playstyle, and I'd rather tell you that than pretend there are numbers behind it.
Who built it
Just me. I kept hitting the same question in every game I picked up: which character plays like the one I already enjoy? I built the answer for one game, then kept going. One account and one Premium work across all of it.
If a match looks wrong or a trait doesn't fit, tell me. Tag corrections help more than anything else people send.
